Detailed Description

Overview

This is the most current release of the ixgbe driver for Linux*, which supports kernel versions 2.6.18 up through 5.8. It also has been tested on the following distributions:

  • RHEL* 7.9
  • RHEL 8.3
  • SLES* 12sp5
  • SLES 15sp2
  • Ubuntu* 19.04
  • Ubuntu 20.04

Changes in this release:

  • Added support for 5.8 kernel version
  • Added support for RHEL 8.3
  • Added support for SLES 15sp2
  • Added ability to select 2.5 and 5 Gbps on supported devices

Note that while we attempt to keep the driver version number (5.9.4) in sync with its counterpart in the Linux kernel that has similar functionality this is far from authoritative. If you are using a newer kernel.org kernel or distro it is likely that its ixgbe driver is at least as up to date as the out of tree (OOT) driver found here.
