Detailed Description

This Linux* shell script utility uses the ethtool and ifconfig utilities common to most Linux distributions to gather and display your network devices' Make/Model, Controller, PCI Vendor and Device IDs, Driver Name, and Driver Version.


To run, at a command prompt, where this file is located type:
   sudo ./netdriverinfo.sh


Requirements:



  • ethtool


  • ifconfig


  • root permission


Some distributions do not have ethtool installed by default.  You may be able to install it by typing, at a command prompt type:
   sudo apt-get install ethtool

Example output:
eth0 : 02:00.0
   Make/Model = Intel PRO/1000 PT Server Adapter
   Ethernet controller = Intel Corporation 82572EI Gigabit Ethernet Controller
