NOTE: The e1000 driver is scheduled to change to a kernel only support model on/around Q2 of 2012.  If you have open issues you would like to see resolved, please submit them through http://sourceforge.net/projects/e1000/ as soon as possible.

The Linux* Base Driver for the Intel® PRO/1000 PCI and PCI-X Family of Adapters.  The latest version and earlier versions of this driver are available from SourceForge.

This release includes three Linux* Base Drivers for Intel® Gigabit Network Connections.
- igb-x.x.x.tar.gz driver supports all 82575/6-, 82580-, and I350-based gigabit network connections.
- e1000e-x.x.x.x.tar.gz driver supports the Intel® PRO/1000 PCI-E (82563/6/7, 82571/2/3/4/7/8, or 82583) based gigabit network adapters.
- e1000-x.x.x.tar.gz driver supports Intel® PRO/1000 PCI and PCI-X family of gigabit network connections.

This driver includes support for Itanium® 2-based and Intel® EM64T systems.

This release supports the latest 2.4 series kernel as well as 2.6.x and 3.x versions.  For the Linux base driver for 2.2 through 2.4.18 kernels use [e1000-4.3.15.tar.gz].
