How to install and run

In order for Windows 10 to recognize D400 Series devices and install correct drivers, all Windows Updates must be applied prior to plugging in the D400 Series camera to Windows Host System. For the instructions below, the Intel® RealSense™ Camera D410 was used. Device enumeration differs from 400/410/420/430/435, and so on. Driver installation across Windows 10 remains the same.

Enumeration details

  1. Plug D400 Series camera to Windows 10 Host via a USB3.1 port.
    > Setting Up Device dialog box should appear on the very first plug-in of the device.
  2. Open Device Manager.
    >  Right-click Start button.
    >  Click Device Manager.
  3. Notice the D400 series number of the appropriate camera is shown under Cameras. If the camera is not shown under Cameras, make sure all Windows 10 Updates are downloaded and installed. Verify that Windows 10 RS2 1706 or later is installed.

DFU tool steps

  1. Install Windows 10 on PC with USB 3.1 port.
  2. Copy and paste DFU tool and corresponding D400 series firmware .bin files to Windows 10 host. Note which directory files are stored in.
  3. Open to DFU Tool directory, right-click intel-realsense-dfu.exe, and choose Run as administrator.
    >  You can also open a command line as admin and run the intel-realsense-dfu.exe from there.
  4. Plug D400 series camera into the Windows 10 Host system through a USB 3 cable into USB 3 port. Command-line window should appear with the main menu of the tool being displayed.
    > Press 2 then [ENTER] to display a list of updatable cameras.
  5. Notice a list is produced in command line window; press 1 [ENTER] to select D400 series camera and begin the firmware update process.
  6. Prompt asks user to input file path of firmware .bin file.
    >  Type the full file path with firmware filename included and press [ENTER].
  7. Notice output of downloaded bytes transmitting. This process takes about 3 minutes until completion.
  8. When firmware upgrade is complete, the camera resets. A Windows icon saying Device is undergoing additional setup should pop up. The main menu reappears.
  9. Verify the firmware version installed on camera by pressing 4 and [ENTER] followed by 1 and [ENTER]..

Note: the firmware version has changed on the connected Intel® RealSense™ Camera.
