Detailed Description

Purpose: Intel Update Manager for Windows * 8 setup is  a software update  bridging application that assists users of Microsoft Windows* 7 transition their Intel software applications to Microsoft Windows 8*. The Intel Update Manager for windows may be installed on a Windows 8 machine that has been UPGRADED from Windows 7 and all data and applications were saved through the operating upgrade process. The user must have  administrator rights on the PC to be able to update software.

Recommendation: Before any operating system upgrade, we strongly recommend you visit your PC manufacter's support website for guidance and further instruction. If your PC is from an original equipment manufacturer. We recommend visiting your vendor support page prior to trying the Intel Update Manager for Windows* 8.

Important Note: Clean installs of Windows 8 are NOT supported. A clean install is when a new operating system over-writes everything on the hard drive.

Which file to download: Intel Update Manager for windows* 8 setup.exe

Requirements: Windows* 8 (post upgrade from Windows 7). High speed Internet connection. For some systems it is recommended to run Microsoft Windows update on your PC (MEI driver or HECI driver may be needed for use with some service based applications). Some applications may also require additional BIOS and application setup for proper usage. Please read the install notes with each application for additional guidance.

Installation:

1.) Download and double click Intel Update manager for Windows* 8 setup.exe.  Installation is only compatible only with Microsoft Windows 8 (32 or 64 bit).
2.) Once installation completes, Intel Update manager for Windows* 8 is available in your application list (tile).
3.) Run the application in Windows* 8 desktop mode.
4.) Internet connection is required to run the update tool.  After Internet is detected, the update tool will scan your system for reminants of windows 7 version of Intel applications and provide the Windows 8 versions of those applications.
5.) Prior to running, we recommend to run windows update to get the latest drivers and software (MEI).
6.) To uninstall the Intel Update Manager for Windows* 8, visit add/remove programs in the control panel and remove the program.
